Looking for Pygmy Date Palms?

Palm City Nursery and Landscaping is one of the leading growers of single, double, triple and multi Pygmy Date palms.

You’ll notice this and another incredibly popular palm, Adonidia Palms, in a majority of residential and commercial landscapes.

Also known as the Phoenix Roebelenii…

The Pygmy Date palm is native to Southeast Asia, but it has made itself a new home in Southwest Florida.

Do you live in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Punta Gorda, Naples or Port Charlotte? If so, then this smaller palm can help you create the look and feel of the tropical landscape you want.

Common Uses For Pygmy Date Palms

  • Tight spaces
  • Focal point
  • Architectural accent
  • Anchor Specimen
  • Accent to larger palms

This is a small and slow growing palm that is considered low maintenance.

It’s max height is 10’ OA.

Our team recommends Pygmy Date palms be planted using standard topsoil. We also suggest that they be fertilized during the spring, summer and fall seasons to achieve maximum beauty.

As with most palms they should be watered on a regular basis.

Pygmy Date palms generally grow strait up. We recommend our customers keep this in mind when they are deciding on a location or configuration you desire.

They’re great in small or tight spaces that receive medium to full sun.

Depending on your landscape design goals, you may need doubles, triples or multis. If so, you’ll want to consider their spacing.  Our specialists recommend a minimum spacing of 3 feet, but 4 to 5 feet is ideal.

Care & Maintenance

  • Prune dead fronds twice a year
  • Fertilize three times annually
